An effective compliance plan is critical in revenue cycle management and IMP has created a culture of compliance that permeates the day-to-day operations of our organization. IMP’s functionality can assist subscribers in complying with recommendations from regulatory agencies including the Office of the Inspector General (OIG).

 
HIPAA
The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 and its implementing regulations (HIPAA) has created a set of significant requirements for “covered entities” and their “business associates.” As a health care software subscription service, IMP is a covered entity under HIPAA. IMP has spent a significant amount of time developing programs and systems to ensure compliance with key HIPAA standards and requirements, including:
 
Privacy Rule
IMP has implemented functionality, such as PHI disclosure tracking and security levels, designed to ensure both our workforce and the client staff use or disclose Protected Health Information (PHI) only as permitted or required by the Privacy Rule.
 
Security Rule
IMP has performed a risk analysis under the Security Rule standards adopted under HIPAA and have implemented appropriate physical, administrative, and technical measures to ensure the confidentiality, integrity and availability of PHI.
 
Standards for Electronic Transactions
IMP’s software is fully HIPAA compliant and transmits and receives electronic transactions in HIPAA standard formats. IMP provides numerous linkages to HIPAA standard data code sets for use in looking up information and standardizing system master tables.
 
National Provider Identifier
IMP is fully in compliance with NPI requirements.
